Dumb and Dumber

We live in a society of double standards, hypocrites, liars, selfish, greedy, apathetic, and flat out stupid people. Every single day I feel inundated with stupidity and the disregard of others. It pains and sickens me how a growing number of individuals feel as if the sun rises and sets just for him/her; as if every word they speak is gospel. These same people are rude, disrespectful, and obnoxious to others, but then get mad because they don't feel respected or their words heeded. What grinds my gears is that these people who have NOT earned or garnered respect want to DEMAND the respect of others... they want to be treated life they walk on water, but then treat others, especially those genuinely trying to help like shit. This is the reason there are fewer and fewer good citizens and good Samaritans out there, decreasing more and more with each generation.

We have been taxed passed the breaking point for the average American household and have become convinced it's our duty to pay an exorbitant fee just for the privilege of being alive and living within these imaginary geographical borders. Literacy rates are down, unemployment rates are up, incarceration rates are up, the national debt keeps going up... where is this all going to end?
As humans we have poisoned the air, the water, and the ground we live on, yet we keep going along like this is okay. There are people who actually believe that the world is going to end soon via an apocalypse which is the reason the same people are okay with the destruction of our natural resources. I'm here to tell you factually that the ONLY thing we have threatened is the extinction of ourselves. The Earth has been through MANY natural disasters that wiped out the majority of life on this planet... and yet life has prevailed again and again despite floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, asteroids and meteorites, as well as plague and famine.

It is asinine to destroy the planet just because we have a book telling us that maybe sometime in the future everything will come to an end. The Earth is billions of years old and will be around long after humans go the way of the dinosaurs. Then, another species will become the dominant one. It's a cycle that is too long for our tiny minds to fathom on the grand scale it really is. Our lives are a blink, yes, but that doesn't mean that our contribution is worthless. Each day we have the ability to change our own reality and that of those around us. It is all a choice. We can chose to keep the planet healthy and clean for the sake of our children and their children's children. But it starts today with a paradigm shift realizing that the choices we make DO MATTER. The vibrations of energy that we put out into the universe have immediate and instant ramifications. Instead of allowing ourselves to become dumb and dumber, we need to focus on creating goals that matter and are in the benefit of ALL mankind instead of just our own selfish material desires. What  you see and perceive is all but a construct of our own imaginations, fueled by our day to day energy that is often focused on finding blame and pointing fingers rather than the positive displays of love, honesty, and other noble virtues.
