BCS SUCKS!!

Hello and welcome back to another episode of QM strikes back, my friends and fellow knowledge seekers!
Today I want to speak briefly about the BCS (Bowl Championship Series) system, but more importantly the fact that it is outdated and pretty much money biased for the bigger college football conferences like the SEC, PAC 12, Big 10, Big 12, etc.
Briefly I want to recap the top 10 ranked teams to show you how this looks:
1 LSU (SEC) 12-0
2 Alabama (SEC) 11-1
3 Oklahoma State (Big 12) 10-1
4 Stanford (PAC 12) 11-1
5 Virginia Tech (ACC) 11-1
6 Houston (Conference USA) 12-0
7 Boise State (Mountain West) 10-1
8 Arkansas (SEC) 10-2
9 Oregon (PAC 12) 10-2
10 Oklahoma (Big 12) 10-2

Now admittedly I am an Oklahoma Sooners fan!! I grew up watching the Big 12 and that's where my allegiances are, so I'll admit I am sorta biased, but no more so than say an SEC fan since that conference has 3 teams in the top 10.

But here's the point... the BCS system is unfair and biased against the smaller lesser known schools. Point being that the undefeated Houston team SHOULD be in the BCS title game since they are only 1 of two teams (besides LSU) to go undefeated... however, due to them being in a lesser conference they will not have a chance at that title game. The BCS system is based, like many other things, tada... on COLD HARD CASH $$$! There is a LOT of money involved in college sports, mainly college football. And like any other business, they are in it to make BIG PROFITS!! It is no wonder that report after report keeps coming out about colleges paying off players and their families to come play for their teams, often in the south at schools like Miami and USC with Pete Carroll, who bailed out to the NFL when the heat came down on his university. The current BCS system means millions of dollars for universities that are more or less paid off to keep the current, biased system in place.

So I'm not going to just sit here and complain, no no no... I have a really GOOD suggestion too!!
If the NCAA basketball system can have a playoff system and make it work... WHY CAN'T THE NCAA DO THE SAME WITH THE FOOTBALL??
The truth is that they CAN! The coaches and unnamed people making the key decisions are greedy and selfish. They don't want a better system exactly because lesser known teams may just as well BEAT and WIN against a big conference team... and they just can't have a team like Houston, despite their undefeated record, in the BCS championship game... TV = ratings... big conference schools like LSU get more viewers and therefore more ratings, therefore MORE MONEY$$
Do you get it yet??
They don't want to change over to a fairer tournament style system because the money would not stay in the hands of the BIG powerhouse schools and conferences. The BCS system is based on certain polls, coach opinions, and 6 big (SECRET) computer based formulas that not even the actual BCS individuals have knowledge or access to... WTF? REALLY? Secret formulas? It's not like these guys are alchemists or anything, but then again they are turning high profits and in any situation with large amounts of cash, there is room for error and  corruption.

I'm gonna wrap this up with one conclusion... the BCS SUCKS!! It's all about tv ratings and big bucks$$, NOT about the actual BEST teams. I sincerely hope that my team OU goes to a good bowl game and wins. I urge all my readers if you are NCAAF fans, urge your university to back a more fair tournament system vs. this crap we have to deal with for now. There can STILL be all the bowl games in a tournament system and no one will lose their money for the individual bowl games. But LOGIC doesn't really seem important to the people getting PAID millions of dollars from the fans that WANT a fairer system.
Cheer hard. Play hard. Stay safe. Respect others. and be a good winner or loser... regardless of whether you win or lose, good sportsmanship is much needed to show a good example for our youth.
This has been the Quiet Mouse.
Peace. Love. Truth. Respect.
