The Joy of Eggnog

Hello friends, namaste and welcome.

Halloween has passed and the dark half of the year has begun. It is well into football season and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. I love this time of year because, even if it is for just a few days, people actually hang up their guns and stop slinging as much mud (except the drunk family members)...
Well... some of us do... I have no joy what-so-ever from going to the mall around the holidays... oye

Nothing makes you as warm and fuzzy on the inside as the tasty creamy treat with the oddest name known as egg nog. The "nog" part comes from a strong beer that was once used as a spike. Modern egg nog drinking usually involves rum, bourbon, or whiskey, but I like it without alcohol with some nutmeg on top... but that's just me... I'm not much of an alcohol drinker... and when I do... it's the good stuff... Patron
Eggnog literally means "eggs inside a cup". It is used as a toast to ones health. This delicious drink began in England as a drink for the upper class as the average Londoner rarely saw a glass of milk. It is descended from a British drink called posset, which consists of eggs, milk, and ale or wine. The recipe for eggnog (eggs beaten with sugar, milk or cream, and some kind of spirit) has traveled well, adapting to local tastes wherever it has landed.
Eggnog is one of those long lasting traditions that is either hated or cherished. Some would chose to treat it like some kind of abomination. That's their choice... Others toast their glass to the sky, often for several consecutive glasses and eventual inebriation, lol
However you chose to feel about it, there is no doubt that millions enjoy it around the holiday season on an annual basis. One sip fills you with warm fond memories of a fire-lit Christmas celebration with loved ones, friends, and family. Memories keep coming as you long for Grandma's holiday dinner and your aunts sugar frosted cookies, et al among the pies, cakes, and other savory treats.

I'm not gonna give out any recipes, cause I don't like the idea of people using raw eggs to make this drink at home. Just go buy it in the store... it's pasteurized, so it'll be just peachy for drinking... just add libation ;)

This has been the Quiet Mouse. Drink responsibly please. Spend this holiday season teaching your children about respect, love, and family rather than mindless zombie consumerism, gluttony, and selfishness. Remember: it is always better to GIVE than to receive... Help a stranger. Perform random acts of kindness and selflessness. Good karma will come back to you in return for your sacrifice of time.
Peace. Love. Respect. Truth. Karma.
Happy Holidays...
