Before we officially get started I just want to say that this is NOT meant to be a hateful blog against cops. I respect the job they are "supposed" to do, but not always the job that they actually do.
Moving forward, how many people have heard of the police quota system? Anyone? Well it's not just an urban legend. It may not exist everywhere, because some people, especially in smaller towns are a little more honest than let's say an officer in a large metropolitan area who would have to deal with more violent crimes, drugs, and whatnot.
Now it wasn't too long ago that I remember growing up in rural America and the cops used to dress like this:
Now, in our modern police state the normal cops dress like riot police with Kevlar vests and/or riot helmet.
I must confess that I was a rebellious youth with mixed opinions about the law. I don't want to incriminate myself, but I will admit that I have seen with my own two eyes police taking bribes AND selling confiscated drugs from the trunk of the police cruiser... just saying. Not trying to start shit, it's just the bad apples seem to always ruin the bunch, so to speak. In my opinion, ANY TIME you give one person the power over others, there is room for corruption and violent tendencies. In this nation that we live, there are now traffic cameras on nearly every corner, every building, every neighborhood... all to allegedly protect you and I from those nasty "terrorists". It may also just be my opinion, but they don't have to create a police state on my account, because I'm not afraid of the terrorists that OUR own government created to make YOU and I give up our rights with bills like the Patriot Act and NDAA.
Sorry I get off on a tangent at times, back to the topic at hand.
As I said before, it is more common in large cities, but it also happens everywhere as this nation runs FOR-PROFIT prison systems that, well, if they aren't full... the cops are PAID to make them full again, often with non-violent criminals such as cannabis smokers. It is noteworthy that you will notice out on the highways as you drive around that around the beginning and end of each month, respectively, there will be more people pulled over on the side of the road. This occurs due to the quota system that the police employ. It has even become public record in some cases that the police officers were threatened... YES THREATENED by their superior officers with strict punishments and the wrath of colleagues if the quotas are not met.
These punishments include, but are not limited to: subjection to undesirable assignments, denial of overtime and personal leave, poor evaluations, and sometimes suspension of duty.
Resources are diverted away from violent crimes in these cases as the easiest way to fill the for-profit prisons IS with non-violent offenders and often those called minorities such as blacks and Hispanics, again, often for marijuana. This strain on resources is leaving many local and state municipalities to cut funding for finding the REAL criminals such as MURDERERS, RAPISTS, and other VIOLENT OFFENDERS. I've NEVER met anyone in my entire life who committed a violent crime like burglary or murder over some weed... now can you feel me?
Point blank, the quota system for getting a certain number of tickets and/or arrests often leads to illegal arrests, summonses, and stop-and-frisks, and they undermine trust between the police and citizens whom they SWORE AN OATH TO SERVE AND PROTECT... NOT to punish and enslave. The illegal use of quotas damages the community that is already stretched thin due to the constant fighting over petty differences and EVERYONE, poor or rich, is trying to get some money, it seems... often the cause for violence and crime.
Do I hate police. NOPE. Do I respect them... sometimes. I WANT for them to do the job that they are SUPPOSED to do and that is to actually protect the people. The problem comes when they get too big of heads for their shoulders and start thinking that they are the law or they are ABOVE IT. That and they are stretched too thin that they go after the easy targets: non-violent offenders.
There shouldn't be a hypocrisy, but when our country is based on waging wars, it is easy to see how that same philosophy has been used to wage wars in the streets of a once great nation. I have said before and I will say again, the war on drugs is a war against the civil liberties of the American citizen. Un-Constitutional laws rushed through Congress by fascist dictators calling themselves Presidents have turned our home land into an official war zone (as per the NDAA)... as I have discussed before, any time you want to know about war and how the world works... follow the money to the rich white guys. In the case for the United States... well, the jury is still out on it's fate. Can the citizens unite against the tyranny of the rich bankers and corporate titans who seek the subjugation of the masses? Or are we doomed into this downward spiral where the police look like riot control as they prepare for MARTIAL LAW once the economy collapses again (AND IT WILL!!)
CHOSE YOUR REALITY! THINK FOR YOURSELF! Do NOT let the government or anyone else tell you how to think and believe. Don't want to deal with the cops... don't break the law... or don't get caught.
I like the first choice, but then again, some of the laws are just fucking stupid. I think the primary need for police is that there are so many stupid people now that they are forced to treat EVERYONE like a criminal... makes it just that much easier for them to instill shit like TSA pat-downs and pornographic body-image scanners, as well as Viper teams of mercenaries and contracted hit-men roaming our streets (Blackwater).
THE ANSWER TO 2012 IS 1776. Thanks to all those who speak out against tyranny like David Icke, former governor Jesse Ventura, and Alex Jones, among others. This has been the Quiet Mouse. Keep your freedoms and continue to fight for them, lest they be taken away by some ruthless politician or corporate asshole... oh wait they're the same person, lol... Oh, and DO NOT FIGHT THE COPS...
