Why is it that as humans we are so focused with war and violence? Is it the proverbial yin/yang of the battle fought by good vs. evil? Or is it that we are ALL inherently BOTH good AND evil at the same time and the battles that exist outside of us is the SAME battle that we all fight WITHIN as well?

I have noticed, especially since living in an apartment complex once again that kids, even at a young age are obsessed with fighting and "playing" war, often with near-realistic looking "toy" guns. It is no wonder to me why we are a nation based on a near constant war struggle with some brown people or another. This generation's enemies are the Islamics, just like our father's generation's enemies were the Cold War Communists and before that it was the Nazi's... we've just entered a new age of tyranny and McCarthy-ism, fully equipped with a para-military police state...
But as for the kids, I feel a sadness within when I see kids "pretending" to murder one another as if that should EVER be acceptable. Yet we still have this issue that is reinforced and permeated through our entire culture through the media propaganda. From my experience as a former Navy sailor, I believe there is NO HONOR in movies like "Act of Valor" that seeks to somehow sensationalize the presence of the U.S. military in foreign lands and continue the farce that WE are somehow supposed to police the world. Beyond that I have personally SEEN with my own two eyes the trauma and death from the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The kids that are "playing" war have been given a HUGE disservice from their parents' generation either from complete lack of concern or supervision to out right neglect.
When war becomes the "norm" and we can watch it on television like it is a movie, with all the special effects from Hollywood, the society becomes disassociated from the reality that we are ALL humans and we are ALL equal. The TRUTH is that wars only serve a few specific purposes:
1) For a small select group to subjugate the masses, often by force through war.
2) For the same group of individuals above to gain control of all natural resources and infrastructure such as mass transit, roads, and public utilities.
3) For the purpose of "thinning out the herd". War has ALWAYS been an easy way to curb the problem of population control since humans just can't or won't stop breeding.
4) To rally the sheeple around a cause to take the focus off the REAL agenda which is fucking over the masses and to justify stealing resources and lands from brown people.
What's even sadder is that even the poorest kids here in this nation are STILL much better off than their peers in the middle East that are continually riddled with gunfire and mortar rounds that they can barely sleep at night, or they live in fear that the Taliban will recruit them as a child, stealing them away from their village to be a soldier. Despite these advantages or disadvantages, it permeates the human experience both in "civilized" and third world nations alike. I think it originally was a part of our behavior because we had to develop the fight or flight reflex to avoid being eaten by a lion or crocodile, hell cheetahs run really fast.
Parents that work and their children are raised by the television have enough trouble teaching morality and non-violence into your children... I can only imagine how difficult it would be to teach forgiveness and morality in a country that had been warring for the better part of the last 2000 years, always with "an eye for an eye" mentality. The parent's there have no jobs, no future, and are constantly being bombed the shit out of ... I feel bad for those people, especially compared to the ethnocentrism and nationalism that Americans use to justify the televised war... hell, it's not really even discussed in the news much any longer... the media has been bought and sold a long time ago... if you want the real truth, YOU have to seek it out... you'll never hear a word of truth on the nightly news. It's all just Jerry Springer, professional wrestling, and COPS all rolled into one, convincing you that you live in a world of "TERROR" where every person walking down the street is a potential rapist or terrorist out to get YOU, leading down that slippery slope where everyone lives in this perpetual fear that makes them sheeple and it makes it that much easier for an overbearing government to take your rights away with bills like the Patriot Act and NDAA. And this is all after a nationally televised FALSE FLAG ATTACK by our own government on it's own people.
Perhaps some of the violent tendencies are only coming out MORE NOW because there are more people than there ever have been. We are being taxed and fucked over MORE NOW than there EVER has been before in the history of this nation. Chances are it's going to get worse, as well, as there is no better example of how people will act on their rawest emotions and basic instincts when all is lost and there is nothing left to lose. Human beings will revert to being animals once again... just look at what happens in high stress situations like the post-hurricane Katrina New Orleans... or the L.A. riots...
You may not see it, but there are other places in the world that are more in tune with the true necessity of violence, but they use it to RESTORE the public control of governments away from corporations and banks and back into the hands of the PEOPLE... something we haven't figured out in this country for a while... well since the CIVIL WAR to be precise. Truth is our generation is overdue for an in-country squabble. Don't believe me... that's fine, but wait until the banks collapse or the economy goes tit's up or the gas goes to 5, 6, or 7 dollars a gallon... or how about WHEN the unemployment rates go up to 20, 25, even 30 percent... you don't think there's gonna be fucking riots in the streets then I cannot help you with my blogs...
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst... If the housing bubble bursts again or there is a major national disaster such as a pandemic or god knows any other number of possibilities... we DO live in a volatile world of dog eat dog; survival of the fittest. It is the natural order of things that we have screwed up with our constant warring violence, overpopulation, and obsession with money... ALL THREE which are interwoven into our upbringing from a very early age. In my home I do NOT allow my children to "play" with guns or to "play" war. Let's be honest for a moment, guns only serve one purpose and that quite simply is TO KILL. PERIOD. To say anything otherwise is a fools lie. Hunting is just the murder of an animal for food... and FUCK THOSE ASSHOLES WHO HUNT FOR SPORT AND DON'T EVEN EAT THE ANIMAL!!
So people can call me a "tree hugging hippy" or some other ridiculous crap, but my truth is that I want MORE for my children than to be raised to be bullet catchers and come home in a body bag for some rich white assholes for-profit war mongering. There is NO DIGNITY in death, ONLY life... especially when you are fighting and dying in a war based on lies and profiteering in foreign lands against camel herders and nomads. You CANNOT convince me that these hillbilly farmers are a REAL threat, especially with the CIA (and other alphabet agencies) overthrowing freely elected governments, assassinations, and torture, as well as a flood of drone strikes sanctioned by a fake president named Barry Soetoro, who undeserving won the Nobel Peace Prize... and yet is responsible for the death of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. THIS is our leader. Land of the free, my ass. Our government fucks people over every day... commits acts of genocide and terrorism, but we're supposed to be angry and afraid of the brown desert people. NOPE. I'm afraid of the government and it's substantial rise to power and it's ability to strip the rights of citizenship, detain you indefinitely without trial, ship you to foreign lands, torture, and even murder you. President Obama holds the keys to this power, as given to him by his puppet predecessor George W. Bush, and he has YET to give up these powers. As we speak, the war-driven police state has in mind for you civil unrest, martial law, and the END of the Constitutional Bill of Rights. Think you're really FREE???
