Hello once again my friends, family and fellow knowledge seekers. Today is the "big game". I live in Washington state now. I am a fan of the Vikings and the Chiefs, neither of which team is anywhere close to the two that are playing tonight: New England Patriots and New York Giants.
Now it may just be my imagination, but professional football has gotten a little bit lame as of late. In my opinion it always seems like the same teams are in the big game at the end of every season. There are about 6 or 7 elite, top tier teams in the professional football league...
and by the way, I am being careful of how I say this since the league has been responsible for the removal of about 500 websites and pages in the last week or so for violating copyright infringement. Shit, I think that alone is a joke since we allegedly live in a society of free speech (which doesn't really even exist any longer).
Back on the ranch... the media circus known as the "SUPER" bowl game is just a farce to get millions to tune in and watch 3 to 4 hours of COMMERCIALS... with a little game on the side. Similar to the Roman coliseum where at the time the most grand of spectacles were performed including gladiator combat, chariot races, and brutal death of those deemed unworthy as they were eaten by lions and tigers... oh my!
Also similar to the Roman obsession with sports is daunted by the American empire's obsession with sports... between sports, beer, and titties, I think that's all that most American men, in particular, seem able to think about on any given day (especially today).
Not only that, but we have to deal with months and months of bombardment from all forms of media and in-store displays trying to sell you a BIGGER t.v. to watch "the biggest game of all time", plus all the snack foods that could feed an army of hungry armchair quarterbacks as well as provide the local emergency room with enough beds for all the eventual clogged arteries, stroke, and myocardial infarction's (that's heart attacks for those who don't know).
What's worse is that the "big game" is another glorified reason for people to do ANOTHER of mankind's most obnoxious habits: GAMBLING! I'm thinking "really"... 5 million on 1 game? And people get crazy about this too as they gamble away their life savings, retirement funds, children's college funds, etc... all for what? Bragging rights? As if that really meant anything. Friendships are lost during these big games as friends are forced to pick sides in what is led up to be an "EPIC BATTLE" or a "CLASH OF THE TITANS" that takes place on the gridiron.
What really drives me nuts around this time of year is the fact that we have to hear all this commentary from the players about the most daft and retarded shit. For example: I could give two rats asses if Tom Brady has a bidet in his bathroom that Wes Welker likes to visit and use. Really? Is that really news worthy of print? No wonder the dumbing down of society has worked so well... people are so busy worrying about inconsequential issues while people are dying in the streets home and abroad. Wars are being waged in secrecy while we are busy distracted by the spectacle that is this BOWL game today. This is why I have officially labeled today's game as the TOILET BOWL. No one really but those that live in the New England region of the United States has a vested interest in the outcome of this game. Moreover the fake fans that want to jump up and down screaming at the television are pretty lame. I suppose it is different if you are a genuine die hard, life-long fan of either of these two teams, but MOST people just seem to divide themselves and pick a side based upon whatever erroneous information they think they "KNOW" about either team. Some just cheer for AFC or NFC. Some cheer based upon Las Vegas odds of who the bookies think will win. Others just don't really give a shit and go spend their time more productively and do ANYTHING in the world but sit around and watch 4 hours of commercials. And speaking of... I am appalled at how expensive advertising costs are for this game. MILLIONS of dollars are spent trying to sell you on brands of beer, trucks, websites, performers, iconic images, etc.
Being a humanist it makes me sick that so much money is spent on advertising of PRODUCTS that people don't really need while there are people genuinely in severe NEED of money, food, shelter, and clothing. What a wasteful society we live in where part time atheletes are put on a pedestal getting paid exorbitant salaries while teachers and firemen work at near-poverty levels. What a wasteful society where we throw away approximately a third of our food from gluttony and over-eating while the world around us is litterally STARVING. What a wasteful society where we spend so much money on one day at a time: like Christmas, Halloween, Easter, or "Stupid" BOWL Sunday... when we should be caring, compassionate, empathetic to our fellow men, women, and children EVERY DAY, not just on select few.
YES, I will admit that football is moderately entertaining (provided the two teams are good and don't suck ass like Cleveland or St. Louis). I will even admit that tonight I have been invited over to watch the big game at my landlord's house... I even made special food for the event too. But for me it is more about the social interaction than the over-hyped spectacle that is the big game itself.
For the record, I am going to cheer for Tom Brady (who bangs super-models and scores touchdowns) and his team the New England Patriots. I might not even watch the whole game as I am debating my interest in going to see this game... especially since I could just stay at home and do something more productive like packing my shit for moving in the next week or so... just a thought.
Enjoy the game if you are watching it. Although I recommend doing something else that will benefit you and your precious time besides wasting it on a game with two teams that I could give a rat's ass who wins. This has been the ONE and ONLY Quiet Mouse.
Peace. Love. Respect. Teamwork. Compassion. Empathy. Productivity.
