Namaste and welcome, my friends, family, and fellow knowledge seekers to another posting on my blog, the Quiet Mouse Strikes Back. I hope that you are finding this post on what is a good day. Let's begin.
How much is enough? Money? Cars? Jewelry? And all the finer things of life? There is and pretty much always has been this idea of perpetual expansion of human life on Earth. As we grow as a population, our cities grow more rapidly, crime rates rise, drugs, vice, and violence seem to be what we hear about the most. Climate change is wreaking havoc on coastal areas worldwide. Pollution and overfishing have destroyed the oceans. Animal agriculture is producing more greenhouse gases than all forms of transportation combined.
At what point do we decide that those who commit and/or cover up for child abuse/pedophilia under the guise of religion no longer can claim any moral authority? When do we say ENOUGH?
At what point do we say ENOUGH? At what point do we say NO to the war machine? NO to corrupt corporations polluting our waterways and oceans? NO to crooked, lying, sexist, racist, xenophobic, spray-tanned politicians giving tax breaks to the upper 1%?
When do we say ENOUGH to the fast food conglomerates fattening up Americans with food-like products that have been linked to diseases like hypertension, diabetes, depression, obesity, heart disease, and cancer?
ENOUGH to getting ripped off by overpriced healthcare, insurance, and prescription drugs?!? ENOUGH to shitty wages that can no longer afford even the most basic of lifestyles; near the poverty line and still working 40 or more hours a week...? ENOUGH to rising inflation and the continued devaluation of the American dollar?
ENOUGH to the death of the American dream?
ENOUGH of the upper 1% owning more than the bottom 50% combined?
At what point are we going to cut back and make sacrifices so that there WILL be a future for generations to come? Our greed and selfishness as humans has destroyed over half of all life on Earth in the last 50 years. We are on a course of self destruction. The Amazon rain forest and half of Africa are on fire! When do we say ENOUGH?
When do we hold the corporations and businesses that pollute the environment responsible for their crimes against the planet, climate change, and environmental destruction/animal and ecological genocide? When do we say ENOUGH and hold them accountable?
The polar ice caps are melting at an unprecedented rate... when is it ENOUGH?
Humans have committed genocide against nature and we have dozens of species going extinct, as in they will never be here again, annually.... when is the mass slaughter of intelligent life ENOUGH?!?
It's the same with humans warring with one another. More nukes, more bombs, more missiles, more guns, and more weapons ISN'T going to solve any problems, but create many more. More terrorism. More despotic rulers. More war. More crimes against humanity. More genocide. Less safety. Less security. Less freedom. Less lifespan. Less quality of life. When is ENOUGH?
This is all just food for thought. Not sure if my blog posts; my words have any impact other than to reflect on my thoughts and life experiences in a legible format. I sincerely hope these words reach someone of power, someone of influence, and changes their perception of the world for the better.
