Hello and welcome once again to my blog. Today I want to talk briefly about the relationship between the government, symbolized by the figure "Uncle Sam", and the American populace who they are supposed to serve.
There is almost, if not entirely, a complete disconnect in the United States of America between the will of "We the people..." and the actions of our elected representatives, on BOTH major political parties, who have become so polarized they are completely ineffective and unable to pass basic laws that would or could help (politics aside) the majority of Americans. I think these people have forgotten who they serve, gaining wealth and favor from rich funded lobbyists, business tycoons, and pocketing campaign contributions; all the while ignoring the very base of citizen voters they swore an oath, under the Constitution, to serve the interests of.
What can be done about an out of control government that thinks taxpayer money is a blank checkbook for their interests, rather than ours? What do we do when they think they are above the law, committing adultery, pedophilia, fraud, obstruction of justice, abuse of power, etc.?
The answer is simple. Hold these members and representatives ACCOUNTABLE to the people by imposing TERM LIMITS, fines or outright firing for lack of productivity and accountability for job satisfaction and completion of public service, and investigations for ANY and ALL accusations of wrongdoing, plus campaign finance reform to get billionaire money out of such heavy influence on the elected representatives.
It's time for our founders dreams to be realized by cutting off the corruption, fixing the broken parts of government that do not serve or no longer serve the will of the people, and demanding accountability for where our tax dollars are being spent.
