Namaste and welcome once again to another posting for the Quiet Mouse Strikes Back. Thank you for taking the time today to read my thoughts.
Something as simple as covering your mouth when you cough, as well as many basic manners have been lost in this digital age of oblivion. It is indeed cold and flu season; not looking to get much better as an arctic vortex has formed and is sending massive amounts of freezing air down south through the heart of the United States of America. I saw prospective temperatures in the great lakes region down to -40 wind chill. During this season of shitty winter weather, we must maintain our basic human dignity and basic respect toward one another. This included, but is not limited to 10 basic simple things:
1) WASHING YOUR HANDS after urinated or defecating. Use HOT WATER AND SOAP!
2) COVER YOUR MOUTH if you had a respiratory infection! It is fucked up to breathe and cough on, thereby infecting others with your funk. This is unacceptable behavior in modern society. USE A MASK if you are infectious.
3) Get yourself and your damned kids VACCINATED for basic preventable illnesses like MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella), polio, scarlet fever, etc. If you are elderly or have a compromised immune system, please get the flu shot. Most healthy adults don't need the shot, but those with weak immune systems DO.
4) SNEEZE OR COUGH INTO YOUR SLEEVE.
5) STAY HYDRATED! DRINK WATER! Pedialyte is fine if you are deleted of electrolytes, but be careful of sports drinks that are loaded with sugar.
6) EAT THE B.R.A.T. DIET.
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
Foods that are too high in fats and sugars with upset your digestive tract and make it more difficult to recover from sickness.
7) STAY WARM! It's cold outside so make sure you bring in your pets as well.
8) GET SOME REST! Your body can't get well from illness if you are causing additional stress from working and moving around. It's difficult to find the right time to rest, but even a nap can be beneficial.
9) GO TO THE DOCTOR! If your symptoms are contagious and you are at risk of infecting others, please see a doctor.
10) TAKE YOUR MEDICINE! A small prescription can do wonders for aiding in feeling better in a shorter amount of time. Home remedies are fine as well, but often don't work as well as a naproxen,Robitussin, or Nyquil.
That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please feel free to read any or all of my past posts and please feel free to leave comments. I hope you have a fine day. This has been the one and only Quiet Mouse.
